I thought peeing on it was the popular remedie, never heard of pouring salt water over it.
In the keys the locals suggested using meat tenderizer.

Lifeguards here all have an anti-sting spray that works really well, I'm not sure exactly what kind it is. Something vinegar-based, I believe.

Had to ask them to spray me down a few years ago when I somehow got a man o' war tentacle inside the back of my wetsuit... looked like I had been given a few lashes from a whip.

I guess it depends on the jelly/individual, I have tried vinegar & find ice alleviates the pain much quicker from my own personal experiences.

OH Hell NO ; meat tenderizer and vinegar, will make it a Lot
easier to deal with a sting. We had those Lil buggers in the Chesapeake Bay
near Maryland where i grew up ; i know all about them. OUCH !!

Do not use ice... Need hot water to deactivate jelly poison...
