What would you recommend for use with a waveboard & twintip? I fly Naish Pivots 5-7-9 but would like something when wind is below 17-18 knots to have some fun on either waveboard (small waves as they're windbased) or twintip (won't go to the moon obviously but decent jumps and hangtime for some back-/frontrolls and other freeride/style stuff). Would the Ultra 12 fill that hole well enough?

Thanks

I was you, I'd get a 3 strut 12m wave kite.

17 or 18 knots is not light wind. Any good 12-meter kite will pull you on 17 or 18 knots. cheers

Ultra 9 stays in the air much better than Pivot 8. If you are riding downwind the Ultra will handle the decreased apparent wind much better. I think you will like it on the wave board.

It jumps well enough but flutters a lot depowered. It works better in the lower part of its range. If you want powered up boost riding I agree with the 3 strut idea.

A foil kite would offer the best combo of light wind boost and wave drift if you can manage their idiosyncrasies. I bet in 12 weeks TomW changes his recommendation to a 9m Hyperlink.

I’ve had an 11 but thought that too slow.

Below that, ideally a kite that will work from 12-18 knots

I love the Pivots so I certainly won’t change anything there, the perfect combo for tt & wave. Really looking for that fast 12m that will work below the 17 knots. Seems that it would if I interprete correctly? I’ve tried foils, the f-one diablo and flysurfer speed 4 & sonic. That feel is just not for me, can’t get used to it.

I'm not sure its much faster, but it does stay in the air better. So I can use the 9 in much less wind than the 8 pivot, more than 1m difference would suggest. The pivot is much more fun for powered boost tt riding. The Ultra more fun in less wind.

just read the whole thread and it's essentially useless with lots of speculation.

Summary:
- VERY few people (including me) on here actually own the ultra or have even demo'd it.
- Those who have say it's good and stable, but it sounds like the Clouds are even better for low end (although not as much high end).
- Some debate whether the 12 or 15 is the best low end ultra, getting down to a minimum of 8knots.
