Good advice! Wait to hit the gorge until after you have some decent skill. You should go there and check it out once it is a bit less intimidating. Hood River (Event Site) is a great place to watch kiters. But no one kites there - there are too many kiters in the way. Other spots in the Eastern Gorge are sweet and somewhat untouched. These lesser known spots are better than your local venue (or at least better than mine), but still challenging launches. Hood River winds are pretty gusty and it is just not an ideal place to learn. Go to HR for the scene. Kite elsewhere in the Gorge.
Still, you have to make the pilgrimage there sometime in your kiting career. Once you experience it, you may want to move there.

the Southern Caribbean is pretty good in June.. (Grenadines and further South). Grenadines has 90% wind probability with moderate speeds (15-18kts). Pretty warm water too..

Still windy in Corpus in June. There's plenty of areas to kite in, this video was shot yesterday. This was a 10 min boat ride south of "grassy point"

Hey Dylan and Matteo
Nobody said we were NEWBS. We are both capable riders with 8 and 5 years experience.. I meant progression in the sense of uping the game.. even so the gorge is a great place but I have developed an allergy to wet suits so looking for board short warm air and water.
Corpus and SPI are on the list. We just got back from our annual spring trip to Hatty and love it there (even though it is a swamp...LOL) just considering something different, besides all the Triple S competitors and fans are down there atm... it'll be a shit show for sure.
And then there's Dimitri, walking around with his speedo all the time. You can't un see that!
