Flat water in Greece in July?

Postby Toby » Sat Jun 17, 2017 5:26 pm

I am looking for a flat water spot in Greece in July...with around 20-25 knots...do you know of any?

Any other suggestions at this time of the year?

Prassonisi on Rhodes has an offshore flatwater spot (and onshore wavespot) There are people with boats there so it should be possible to negotiate a rescue deal :) I am going in july, was there last year also. Wind 7/7 days.

Yes, Prasonisi is very windy in July: https://www.windfinder.com/windstatistics/prasonisi
BUT it's crowded.. Onshore-side is less crowded if you go 500 m from shore to upwind, but there are waves.
Rescue service was 20€ a day three years ago. And it's not available all day from sunrise to sunset (if you think you go in the morning/late in the evening to prevent crowds :)
I like the place, but I prefer to kite on onshore chopside :)

Thx guys...I know about this spot, but I have 32m line 18sqm kite looping...so crowded will create many enemies ;-)

Any other options? Doesn't have to be Greece...

Ah, sorry, thought a different one.

For me Stagnone looks a bit too shallow...further out it is ok, but less flat and cannot put a camera there.

I saw the upwind part but also looks dead shallow.
I need 80 cm to be safe and able to push it.

Well.. seems that there's a need to "innovate" spots for your requirements
So,... did you think of inland lakes in Greece? like lake Vegoritida ( for the sake of full disclosure , I never kited in any inland lake in Greece 8) )
