8 to 16 kts for foil free styling with 17, 14.5 and 13m.17kts for 12m and foil boostin. 20kts for 12m and airstyle tt. 23to 28 kts for surfboardin with an 8m. 28 to 33 big boosting on a tt with a 10m. Over 33 the gust to lul factor is no fun.
Right now my favorite is a 30mph front on flat water with my 12m SB for nothing more than the boosting height and views looking around while soaring. Next I like 18-20mph on a 12m to get silly and try some stupid shit I'm not good at without getting killed in the process
I'm part of the "under 30" crowd (wind, that is. I more than double that in age). Over 30 tends to get pretty gusty around here, although a SSE at 35 brings some nice waves to a lot of our side of Lake Michigan, and it's usually not too gusty to play with. I've got my light wind weapons, but prefer not to use them. I think 25 is my sweet spot.
I get so jealous when I hear of your local wind Plummet. Doldrums this winter havnt given me more than 15kn. ....... Gusting!!
My perfect wind is smack on 20kn.
20kn gives me perfect boost on the 14...... But still enough power to jump on the 11 and try new stuff and not get worked.
Those are the best sessions for me.
Work hard on the 11 and learn new stuff..... Then jump on the 14 and dial it in.
I do love a good 30-35kn..... But only for the summer seabreeze. The winter fronts are too off & on where I live.
Still give it a crack though.
The best part about 35+ is that only the shredders are out. There's no short tackers or green keepers (lawn mowing)......
When I've got all my teeth pulled out and my rotten mouth can handle the cold for more than an hour....... Im heading over the pond to NZ !!
