Dear Kitekook77,

Is the 2018 FX a little more grunty than before (especially on the freestyle setting) ? trying to figure out if I am ordering a 12 or a 14 @ 185 lbs

thanks
I'll jump in a little bit here. In Freeride setting, yes it's more sheet in and go. In freestyle, it's less so, flies even more forward in the window, and creates a lot of slack when unhooked. Several of my team riders have migrated off the Chaos to the new FX because the freestyle is really good.

Cabdriver, what are the main changes for the FX besides the bridle setting option?

Thx
The FX is redesigned, so you really need to try one. Think of it as a refinement more so than a major overhaul. ...
Huh? Redesigned and refinement is kind of the opposite of each other, redesigned and major overhaul is kind of the same....well to me anyway?
Any change that affects the wing is a redesign to me. There are clean sheet redesigns, like the Drifter, and then there are refinements, life the FX. Both kites are new for 2018.

Cabdriver,

Is there better hangtime in freeride setting?
I heard the hang-time is not as good as the switchblade but has it been improved this year?

Thx,

Anyone have any foiling experience with 2018 Drifter & offer an opinion on what front bridle setting they prefer - offshore or onshore please ?

I use the 2018 drifter with the onshore setting for foiling and waves, and the offshore setting for twintip. For foiling, the onshore setting makes it a bit more controlable when overpowered and also makes it easier to go downwind. Another small detail, the wingtip setting on the 2018 comes by default on the outer (closes to wingtip) setting. The 2016 I had came on the inner setting. The inner setting works far better on waves and on foiling in my experience, provides more feedback and makes one handed control much more intuitive.

All around, the 2018 drifter works great for foiling!
