Mine all cracked on the rail roughly 30cm in front of the front foot (where the F-one logo is)

I really want a mitu. Have done since there release. Doesn't fill you with confidence in the durability of the board though hearing your comments of breakages. :-(

Don't worry, 2017 Mitu's are excellent and have heard of 0 breakage till now. 2018 are supposed to be stronger and lighter. Avoid 2016 and especially 2015.

I was enquiring about 2018 board availability in UK this afternoon. Seems they are due to arrive end of October & it's been recommended that I pre-order. I too am finding lack of independent information on the products frustrating, more so given this new scenario! I'm interested in the Slice 5'3" vs Mitu 5'8" or 5'10". I've a friend who has just bought a 5'8" which I hope to try in the near future. This will help for Mitu sizing, but not on choice between two very different boards. Place I normally kite is v choppy with windblown waves & not groundswell.

Thanks windmaker for info about previous Mitu generations!

Ha every year the gear is supposed to be stronger and lighter! Or so they say. Will bow to your knowledge though. Shame just been offered a 2016 at reasonable price

So, just got myself a 2018 Signature but I am also going to keep my 2017 Mitu and also had a go on the new 5'1 Slice of a friend. The slice has the flattest rocker line and the widest average width so no surprise is the fastest planning and best upwind. Perfect for cruising in lighter winds and of course strapless freestyle on flat or choppy water.
The signature has the most rocker of the three, the narrowest average width and also is the thinnest (less volume for it's length). Excellent for carving full tilt (my style) but at the detriment of early planning and upwind performance at the low end.

The Mitu sits right in between the 2 which explains it's popularity. Unless you are consistently riding down the line proper waves it's the best board for most of us 90% of the time. If you are a specialist or want to do freestyle in lighter winds the Slice might be better but if the wind is up you can freestyle with any board as long as it is not too heavy.

Thanks again for this information. Very helpful indeed & makes perfect sense that Mitu is of most use to the majority. I'm doing neither of the things the Slice & Signature offer, so seems that Mitu is the way ahead. Given I have a 5'8" Axis New Wave which eats up the chop where I sail, I'm wondering if going up to the 5'10" might make sense given I'm 125kg. That said, the Axis is fine except if <12kts. Hopefully a go on my friend's board will clear this one up. A niggle I have with 2018 Mitu is regarding aesthetics, the colour of the yellow is causing me some confusion; on the F-One website it looks a rather nasty greeny/mustardy yellow (standard construction), yet photos of the board and some video show it being rather cleaner looking, like that canary yellow in the photos of the Slice.

Definetly 5'10''

This photo might help for the colors. BTW the deck pad is particularly grippy this year :thumb:

Thanks for sizing advice and taking trouble to take photo. The good news is that they are fairly similar, so the Mitu isn't as bad as I think it appears on the F-One website (and all dealers who have used those images) and seems to be more in line with how it appears on the videos.

There does appear to be a colour cast on your photo presumably from the sunlight reflecting off the green wall. I've tried to correct it in some of my photo software (it's my day job) to get a white on nose of the Slice & colour of aircon unit, but it can't remove it completely. However floor colour has gone ballistic, so not sure if I was barking up right tree.
