mad dan .......I try.....three nerves ( ulnare mediano radiale ) start from spine reaching the hand passing through shoulder and elbow.
together with all other nerves going from spine to head and legs there are 16 main nerve crossing on our back between scapola.
due to bad movements repeated for years ,contact sport ,job position ,various trauma, etc these nerves glue each other and over the years create a tension that causes the pain up or down right or left.
no way to discover these "entrapment" by mri x ray scan whatever ....only finger deep down searching ....not extreme difficult.... yust to know where to touch .
it is chinese tecnique ...far ahead from western tecnique that usually looks down where there is the pain ,never trying to discover the cause of the problem.
spend time on web ...read ...think ....try... a good book is "anathomy trains from thomas myer.
one bad movement in the morning can be solved with one immediate massage otherwise nerves left entraped create a calcification (because vein does not make the job ) and a series of massage is needed literally to break the "knot"
it is not my job ,I do it for pleasure to friends while continuous learning it and studying it
ciao

Wrist straps are so effective at protecting injured, weak or merely fatigued wrists that they will likely remain a permanent feature on my bars.
...
I see why your strap would work ; it changes the angle the wrist and
elbow pull on the bar. A slight design change to make it a bit safer here :

Get rid of the strap that Ya put your hand through ; and make a wooden
Handel, (or plastic ball to hold on to) on a short cord , that hangs below
the bar. That way your hand can't get stuck in the loop if ya crash ; and you
still got something hold.

Don’t listen to all these folks
Do what you want
If you want to use the strap, use it

And send pics from the hospital later if you live😳👌🏼👍

On my HG , i had to go with a speed-bar, that let me place my grip
at a better angle than the straight control bar did ; so when my wrist
and elbow started hurting when kiteboarding, i knew that flying a kite
off the OH-Shit handles would probably work to make the pain go away ,
(and it did).

NorCalNomad --- ; your wrist ain't the one that's hurting ; and if
changing something , (anything) will stop the OP's pain , Then i recommend
he go go do it.

I do NOT like his straps though ; find a better method. Even a metal tube attachment
that was 45-deg off from the bar would work better than a stock control bar.
The angle on a stock control bar will set your hand at the extreme limit for
the grip most use, (Ya can't turn your hand more inward, than what you do
when holding a stock bar) 45-deg, is way easier . Grabbing the bar from the back
is the same ; it is also the extreme limit of a normal humans motion but it will
help to stop the pain, (for a little while).
