As of now, city spokeswoman Melissa Berthier says there's no official ban on kitesurfing in Miami Beach.

So they can't be chased away?

Great spot. Kited there many times. Would be sad to loose it.

The beach is so long, give 2 blocks to water sports.

I will be staying in Miami Beach starting Dec 16th and sure hope they work it out by then.

I have seen both dumb kiteboarders and dump beach visitors, sounds like this was a case of a dumb kiteboarder.

You should at least do what others have done to try to preserve access. There is a happy medium between an outright ban & beachgoers feeling threatened. You should form a group. Designate a launching & landing area at that beach. Help inform people to use the area. Let visitors know the rules etc. If you show some kind of responsibility as a group, you'll experience less problems over the long run.

Yeah ask for a designated area. In the Netherlands that works oke. Sometimes bit crowded but in the winter we can go anywhere. Landind and launching with a beach full of people is not very safe.
