I grew up surfing.....then tried snowbaording and the two didn't translate well...fast forward....I am a very good skier then I took up kiteboarding.....winter approaches. How does Kiteboarding translate to snowboarding...
what the hell am I talking about.
kiteboarding technique and snowboarding: how do the techniques help each other, similar?

I don't think the board skills translate that well. If anything closer to wake boarding.
But foiling straight down wind doing s turns in swell.....Closest I have felt to powder snowboarding. Half weightless and silent carving.

if you ride deep powder with snowboard- then it can be quite simiral. But on grooms- snowboard is way more responsive, it also flexing more to be compared with kiteboard. However- my switch riding improved since I have started to kite
Main difference is carving and edge control: kiteboard is more drifting and snowboard is pure carving imho. But probably stance sideways is same and helps in both sports.

If you are kiting with an OR Mako it translates much better than a tt. Stance and weight distribution is much more similar. Also, the carving is more similar. Not exact, of course, but it does translate better than tt or surfboard.

Kiteboard has a lot more weight on the back foot.

I was a decent snow-skier when i had real legs ; now i got two fake legs
and i can snowski kinda OK , (but when hooked up to a kite) with skies,
i can do the sport quite well.
Bottom line here is :
If you are good on skies, (like you say), and you know how to kite-board ; then
you ain't gonna need any instruction to kite with skies on. Just don't wonder-off
too far from your car , till Ya get the sport Dialed in.
Have FUN !!!

Stick with skis. Not much advantage to a snowboard if you are comfortable with skis. Only place a snowboard is an advantage is on features that you want to do more with than just "go through". A snowboard allows more instant redirection in any position, more torque over the center line out to the tips, and more control/edge dig at low speeds on vertical faces.
If you are dying to give a snowboard a go, look for those nasty things you went around on skis. If devoid of features, stick with skis. A snowboard should translate pretty well even if you do not have snowboard experience, but making it fun is a bit more of a challenge.
The best experience you can get on a snowboard on a hill without a kite is learning to carve a sharp line at the radius of your snowboard side cut. Even better if you can carve on hard groomed surfaces with enough speed to lean down and touch your hand to the snow. If you get to this point, you will understand the difference between a kiteboard side cut and a snowboard side cut.

If your a competent skier (i.e. power carving), Snowboarding is a breeze. Same weight control as skiing (unweighted tail to turn, edge control etc), but turned 90. You do actually use your upper body to initiate turns (point where you want to go, lean towards the front of the board and around you go). Weight and un weight like skiing. Watch the front side edge!!!
Soft snow much better than hard pack!
Have fun!

I was a snowboarder first before kiting
But
-Being a kiteboarder helped me gain confidence going the “other” direction on a snowboard.
Being forced to ride both directions while kiteboarding has in turn given me way more confidence doing the same as a snowboarder.
In general being a snowboarder, and learning snowkiting first, was a big advantage when I transitioned to water with the kite.
