The Kiter and the Whale

Postby ced1 » Mon Nov 27, 2017 1:06 pm

So over the last few weeks in South Africa, we've been kiting with whales... and had some unbelievable sightings. Always hard to capture it.
This time we got lucky during a video shoot and got this amazing photo ...

After sending it to a few people and getting feedback like: It's photoshopped! I made a little video edit to put the photograph in context:

There is another video on my Facebook page from my go pro on another day:

That whale is a mile offshore...this is a much more intimate version of a similar experience.

This denizen of the deep also allowed me to jump over her and in the process turned my blood as thick as custard with adrenaline and a vibe.

Great experience seeing the whales.
I was once talking with an American fisheries office and told him about windsurfing in Maui and a whale surface close to me.
He informed me that a fisheries officer had been there to see the encounter I might have gotten a ticket because a boater is not allowed to come within 100 yards of a whale. What he said would really get there attention is if you follow or disturb a mother and calf.
I know this is not the case in theses pictures just thought some like the info.
