I've split a kite down the middle. It was a reputable non-Core brand. I had a fairly long swim arriving at shore after dark.
Pro tip: wash the salt and sand off kite with fresh water and let it dry before you tape it. Even better if you can clean the area with some isopropyl alcohol.
Conflict of interest disclaimer: I've purchased at least $20 worth of ripstop tape from WestMarine.

Ive never flown a Fone kite but I didn't name the brand because its not worth bashing them.
I've also blown out cells of open and closed cell foil kites and repaired what I could. I have posted where I thought constructive criticism could result in a better design.
Some brands are proud of their beefy construction. Even then its unrealistic to think a kite could survive every impact.
All things the same, I like how a lighter built kite flies.
It sucks that dudes kite broke. Good news is that there is a simple remedy.
Can I blame Core if the wind didn't blow today? Or yesterday? Or if tomorrow I will spend every windy minute at work. Come on Core, step it up and put out more winds.
Fixmykite is another prime choice for a permanent fix. Tape will save the day today.

I drove my car into a tree because I got confused and steering the wrong way. Now it is badly damaged and will probably never be the same again.
It must be the manufacturer's fault for not making the car strong enough.
Most people pump their kite right up to 10 or 12 psi, as much as they can push onto the pump.
Then when the kite crashes really hard and explodes (sometimes literally) they can't understand why.

Knot Core's Fault.
Easy to make a kite more robust, but always trading weight. Lighter kites fly better. Kites, boards and people can all break. Whats new?
Just tape it and ride it. Kite-Fix mesh and glue works well too. No need to cancel vacation.
No need to slam the brand Core.
Conflict of interest disclaimer: I've never flown a Core kite.
I doubt it was intentional!
Oh, sorry, misread that
I've tomahawked Cabrinha, Airush, Slingshot, North and never had that happen - maybe I've just been lucky? Worst has been leading edge stitching coming slightly undone so hand re-stitched it myself. I only pump my kites up to 7.5-8 psi and if in side to onshore conditions with an escape route leave all the strut valves open.

I just talked to a guy who has 7 kite schools around the world. He used to have another brand, but now has Core.
Why? Because they track the usage of EVERY kite, so they know exactly how long the kites last.
Now guess why he switched...
Just looks like it was bad luck with this Core kite, which can happen.

This happens quite a bit on the forum I guess. Saw a thread with Naish kite where OP did the same. Post impressive picture with minimal detail and imply it was the manufacturers fault and mention nothing about contacting customer support or any sort of effort to rectify the problem.
Register your kites folks, then get on the phone ASAP to the manufacturer if this happens on your first tack. Also, not flying your kite like an idiot helps.

Sure it is fair. But to blame a whole brand is not.
Bad luck. Get in touch with seller and see what can be done.
