FS Radical (4) has no concave as other boards. That's something to think off.

Yea, I initially avoided the Radical because I thought that it lacked grip. After trying out my friend's I was shocked with how much grip the board has...better than some boards out there with deep channels.

It's not like the channel is not deep but it's only on one side. Also, being 36/126cm it's not for someone with big foot :) Not me luckily

personally i prefer smaller fins for a clean release from the water when going big. i feel like bigger or more fins is just extra drag that i dont need for boosting and can cause some unwanted rotation. a good concave or channeling will be much better for tracking and much faster to get up to speed and hold the grip for sending big ones

I didn’t experience any unwanted rotations. Control like my Radical.

Hi Toby. Can the Mark boost higher than a Radical? What is your overall feeling about the performance of this board?
Thanks in advance.

Cheers
Carlo

Hard to say although I used both back and forth.

Maybe the Mark let’s me boost a little bit higher.

For sure the Mark has less spray in my face.

It let me do everything I was doing with my Radical, I felt home immediately. And this is good, remember I ride my Radical since 2012.

Here are my thoughts:

- I have the FS Radical 4. Now, if I put the same NTT North pads on my DIY board 120/41cm and Rad 126/36 I can't hold edge and go upwind as on my DIY. Simple. Coz the NTT pads a quite flat. But I like them. Why? They are very light making my board ~2.2kg. That is a huge difference.

However, put the massive pads like The Mark has and viola! The upwind and edge changes significantly. See The Mark pads, how thick the heel side is, double and more than a toe side.
This is proved here: http://ten-kiteboarding.com/wp-content/ ... 08/4-2.jpg - look at the angle! Provided by the pads. This pads probably have 2 small screws on each side which can "grind" the board underneath.

What I do not like with many similar boards is a thick rail. The Mark has 1cm or more thick rail in the middle? Nah, sorry. Brunotti style board, probably made by them. Duno where the industry is going with this, thinner rails ride better. If could be 1mm that would slice
water like butter. Not so with 1cm rails.

Also here:

what Xenon/Bandit combination does. Xenon has really thin rails. Now you know why I'm all for it!

So yeah, as Toby says, the best board is one you've spent most hours on.

I for one pr der thicker rails...less risk of injuries.

Got lucky once when I just had a dent in my knee disk, instead of breaking it...
