Is it possible to get a polar diagram out of a Trace? How about any of the other tracker doodads?

When you say "Trace" I assume you mean a gps track from a mobile phone or gps, when riding on the water ?
Yes indeed it is possible to make a polar diagram, we are many who uses the GPSActionReplay, it is awesome for analyzing your speed and upwind angles and everything you want, and whenever you read a gps file, a polar plot is displayed by default too
You can also see the precise wind direction in degrees, and cut the track in smaller parts if direction has changed, to see what is was before and after the change.
Assume other utilities does this, but I use this tool.

Peter this is the kind of polar I'm talking about yes thank you!
The Trace is a specific brand doodad that mounts the board like a Woo. It records a GPS track, but it looks like its all web app without access to data?

My answer referrred specifically to a Trace sports tracker, and as before I don’t think you can do that - the data is handled automatically and then put onto the Trace app, giving you a nice map overview and summary of data, but nothing like that.

On Xensr web service you can download track as GPX file. It supports at least Xenst Air-device. It could also support Xensr Session (Apple smart watch).
A quick look at Google store shows for example:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... lracer.net
This screenshot is showing polar in Wear UI-fashion. Does it work only with GPS-enabled watch without phone/tabled is the question? Probably not.

Call me thick but I completely don't understand that data, whatever it is trying to tell me is going right over my head...

Andylc - Thank you and yes I don't see a published way to get data out if the trace. Maybe someone has a way?
Its speed as a function of heading plotted in polar coordinates. So for example just knowing if you can sail deeper downwind or higher upwind and how fast.
Sailracer looks like real time and oriented to the current heading. Pretty cool but I'm not coordinated enough to doodle on my phone while riding. Definitely prefer to leave the phone dry in the car for so many reasons.
I like the small size and price of the trace, plus board rather than wrist mount. And most of all the equipment is marketed to hobbiest rather than pro race so hopefully low hassle.

I also love the simplicity of the Trace and the data is really good for me. I have asked for tech support from them before and found them quite helpful - it’s possible they may be able to export gpx files to you??
Looking forward to trying out the Trace skiing next week. Maximum speed challenge here we come...

Been requesting it, no progress so far....
we did succeed in getting lots of improvements in the program in 2016/7 but lately haven't had much success with requesting things...maybe if a bunch of us did we'd get somewhere......
Trace works fine, easy to use, GPS pretty accurate, comparable (but different to Xensr), as for jump height, who knows??, essentially its a great tool to see where you went, what speed, distance etc...if you are interested......be nice to get the raw data though...particularly in remote locations where you either can't upload easily or it costs a fortune! And you can only get a GPX file from Xensr after uploading, so not really workable in locations with dodgy internet
