Trim Issue North Dice 11m

Hi

A friend of mine just bought a used North Dice and Quad Bar 2015 all apparently in very good condition. Surprisingly on the first day he found out that despite sufficient wind he hardly had enough power and the kite was very slow. All frustrated he had to abandon the session.

First thoughts were that back lines are too long in comparison to front lines which is not the case. Another thought was that the Y had been drastically modified which is also not the case.

The last thing he is going to verify if something has been modified on the frontlines at the kite or on the kite attachments.

Is there anything else you can think off to verify and which could be wrong?

How much wind?

My 12m Dice is a really nice kite, except if the wind is too light.
It does not like to fly in light wind. Unlike some kites that will get along with a little power, my 2015 Dice will produce almost no power. Like an ON/OFF switch. Works perfectly until it doesn't anymore, without much middle ground.

How do you know that ?
Measuring front versus rear lines is useless IMO, you have to find the right trim for the very specific kite, as eventhough all manufacturers try to make them "the same" for all models and sizes, this is NOT the case, never.

Just try to shorten the rearlines on the pigtails or bar and see if this works.

You should be able to backstall the kite, "choke" it, when full power and pulling the bar all in - then you have found the point where it is too much.

I am pretty sure, based solely on your observations "no power and slow turning" that the rearlines should be a bit shorter or frontline a tad longer, so try using shorter pigtails or put pigtails on the front lines (at the kite), this way you can use your bar on all your kites and they will all be in perfect trim

As it is your friends, and he might not have other kites or ? you could also just shorten the rearlines at the bar leaderlines, or put one pigtail on the frontline of course.
