A friendly warning: don't kite in Singapore

If you are an advanced kiter, there's no point to kite in Singapore. If you're still on the learning curve, a honest mistake could land you in trouble land. Don't expect much love from the local kiter community, they would very much like to get you arrested for not adhering strictly to their "rules". It's the only country I'm aware of that requires a permit to kite.

There are plenty of better and friendly places around to kite.

I heard that wind in Singapore is a sad, cruel joke. Go across the straight to Malaysia where I think you'll find slightly better wind and a more friendly/relaxed crowd. Or go to Vietnam (do a google search)

I think it involves some lecture on the history of the country, after which my brain shuts off. Don't know, don't care, too many brain cells to waste for subpar winds.

Maybe the frustration from lack of decend winds triggers the hostility from the locals

If you don't know and don't care, it goes to show your attitude and respect to the local community and rules isnt it?

It does look like there are better places for wind.
