I would like some advice on a few aspects of the RPM comparing it to the SST (which I own).
I am seriously considering changing my 9.5 kahoona to a 10m rpm, now that I have a 7 and 8m kite
power in turns - I would like more than sst has
upwind - it took me a while to get used to the sst coming from bow kites, but its fine. More is better
position in window - sst sits pretty deep in the window not helping with my upwind. this is mostly just curiosity
bar pressure - I like the feel of the sst and really dont want heavy bar pressure. as long as its light/medium
turning speed - even though my sst is a 12m i find it turns pretty slow, even compared to my 09 Ocean Rodeo Rise 12m which is no wave kite
thank you

I sold my sst kites because there are better kites for upwind and a 12 meter will always be slow. This kite is AMAZING on drifting, relaunch and build. I like a lot the light bar pressure

You should demo the 9m Turbine.
Not as much drift as SST but light-medium bar pressure, amazing upwind, mad power and lofty jumps.
Despite number “9” on it the power is more than usual 9m delivers. More than 12m Catalyst, compared side by side.
RPM will turn faster but it’ll sit pretty deep in the window and upwind advantage over SST would be questionable

If the above is what you are looking for, then you should be looking at the Ralley, not the RPM.
turning speed - even though my sst is a 12m i find it turns pretty slow, even compared to my 09 Ocean Rodeo Rise 12m which is no wave kite
Since the Ralley has more pull per size you can drop down a meter to meter & half from the SST so a bit faster that way.

Hi I own RPMs since years and recently changed one of them by a SST.
Currently Ride Rpm 8, SST 10, and Rally 12, and planning to change the rpm 8 by a 7. And perhaps the Rally 12 by a RPM 12.
My experience from RPMs, the best kitesurf for what I do. Bar pressure light (one of the best features to me), and upwind better than SST.
Speed and power un turns not sure yet ( I used the Sst 2 ir 3 times only)
My recomendation would be RPMs and SSTs in lower sizes (6-10(. Rally and Rpm for bigger sizes (12-14)
It depends on the conditions you Ride, but I would not use a SST un bigger sizes because I want to make sure I have enough power información those light wind days.
Think in the RPM as something between SST and Rally

I did not try the SST, but have one tip regarding the RPM, as I have been riding them since 2010:
Demo exactly the size and year you want to get.
There are massive differences between the RPM sizes, they are not simply upscaled. The jump from 11m to the 12m and 14m is most noticable. The 11m still has a lot of freeride genes, as it has a comparably thin fronttube and sits forward in the wind window. 12m and especially the 14m have a completely different concept. Way bigger front tube, they sit deep in the window and are awesome for wakestyle, but don't jump and go upwind as good.
Other jumps in the range that are more noticeable than you would expect: 6m to 7m (6 extremely fast and good for wave, but almost useless for freestyle, 7 just the perfect speed and awesome for loops, useable for freestyle) and 9m to 10m (9 useable for kiteloops, 10 very hard to kiteloop).
The perfect quiver for me (75kg, 139cm with Boots, 136cm with straps) was 7m, 9m, 11m.
Not saying that the differences between the sizes are necessarily a bad thing, but it can be unexpected. When you like the RPM 10m and buy a RPM 12m untested based on that experience (or the other way round), you may be dissapointed.
