HELIUM 3
LIGHT, FOIL, WAVE, VERSATILE

High-Performance light air, foil and wave riding.
Image
LIGHT,
Light air performance has always been at the heart of the Helium. Every material, panel, stitch, has been carefully optimized to reduce weight while maintaining core strength and usability.

FOIL,
Drift, effortless control, and light air performance make the Helium the perfect foilboarding tool.

WAVE,
The excellent drift and quick turning response that makes the Helium excel in foil boarding also gives the wave rider the perfect tools to effortlessly surf in the widest wide wind range.

VERSATILE,
For the new Helium 3 we have extended size range from 18m down to 7m. The smaller sizes extend the Heliums versatility for foilboarding and wave riding that want a light responsive feel from there kites. The Helium’s 3 strut progressive profile and refined fixed bridle design give the Helium the ability to cover a large set of performance criteria. From foilboarding, wave riding, to twin-tip freeriding.

Is this kite right for you?
Foilborders, waveriders or freeriders that want to get out in lighter conditions will find the Helium 3 exceeding expectations.

Helium 3 vs Element 6
o If you like riding waves and foiling. Helium 3
o If you like riding waves and riding twintip. Element 6
o If you do any sort of light wind kiteboarding. Helium 3
o If you are learning or are rough on your gear. Element 6

Just curious. Who’s the designer these days? Any info about the kite from him/her?

I'm hoping the H3 will be the Switch surf kite to go to from the E5, as the E6 is aimed more at TT & beginner's.

Looks good. Last May/June I was asking Felix to update the Element 5 to be lighter and it looks like thats where they evolved the Helium into.

I don't understand any of it. I won't be surprised if they turn Nitro into an umbrella, now.

Yes the kite is light weight allowing it to stay in the sky in very light winds .
Foil footage was shot on a 10m in under 10 knots. Riders weight 70kg
Wave riding cross onshore 10m in 11-14 knots riders weight 70 kg - board vader 5'1''
Twintip footage16m in 8 knots with 4 knots of current assistance. Say 12 knots. Rider 92 kg.
Just a little visual teaser.

Thanks for including rider weight Felix. Makes a big difference knowing if a kite will work for larger/smaller riders. I have been suggesting switch to some of my larger friends as I know Marc is one of the bigger guys on the tour and they have been caught out in the past trying kites that just fold when they try and edge hard because the kites were designed for small people.

I don't suppose you'd be able to weigh a couple of the normal sized kites (8-12m range) when its released. Weight isn't everything in a kite but its always reassuring to see that they are there or thereabouts with the other light weight kites.

What about the single strut kite is that project dead now. There was a rumour Switch was working on a single strut kite for foiling. I was sort of hoping to see that coming out this spring...

Second to that, weights, would be very useful to know, say for 10m or 12m sizes at least.

We kept the 3 strut platform to keep the kite versatile and great for other application.
Some of the one struts are great but really suffer in certain areas.
We wanted to bring a good mix to the table.
Here are a few weights for the 3 strut Helium.
7m - 2.4 kg
10m- 2.8 kg
16m - 4.0 kg

The kites do feel awesome in the sky having support from the struts and light weight mix.
Hope this helps.
