I’ve been looking at the kite specific impact/float vests, now that I’m a new dad, I feel I should be a little more safe especially when it’s blowing or the waters cold.
What is everyone using? Pros/ cons of what your using?
I think I like the ride engine vest, especially since I’ve got my eyes on one of their harnesses.
Let’s make the news for great things not for one of us passing stupidly!

I’ve been using this one for a couplke of years now
http://liquidforcekites.com/product/bindings/profile/ I think they were discountinued; I bough a spare one in time so I still can use it. It has a bit of floatability so it was great for me when learning tricks esp. In waves as I was floating quicker. It has a nife and I put a marine whistle in that pocket to be on a safe side. It has a handle on a back (initialy for rescue) which helps to take it off of my Ocean Rodea Ignite drysuit with hood
Vests provide additional layer of wind chill protection too.

I've got an older O'Neill impact vest. Works fine with any harness, I'd say. I'm currently using a ride engine, perfect match.
Drawbacks? None. Doesn't have a lot of flotation, but that's expected...it's an impact vest.

You should find a mystic with the D30 shock foam panels. This foam has special property of getting hard instantaneously on impact. But remains soft and pliable during normal movement. I've talked directly with the company that makes the foam, have samples sent to me and I can tell you it's not BS.

I would go with
http://liquidforcekites.com/product/har ... reme-vest/ if you are wearing a RE harness. Most vests don't give much flotation but this one does.
I honestly don't understand why people kite without flotation.

Thanks for everyone’s input.
Still looking for someone who’s tried the RE vest though.
To iriejohn: a post to search doesn’t help the topic especially since it’s about safety. That and the search eng on here isn’t that great and your then stuck digging through a pile to find the needle.

Digging through dross to find a specific needle is one of life's hardships.

I’m looking to get the new Mystic Majestic X this summer and since my goal is to learn kiteloops I’d figure a good impact/flotation device might Be a good idea. I’m usually the only rider out there so it wouldn’t hurt. Any suggestions? Thanks. =Jason-
