From Marks Dad,
Hey, Mark's my son. I saw the picture before I heard from him and was horrified. He said that he was able to be pulled through the lip, but his kite crashed. He re-launched his kite and was able to body drag to the channel. He said he made 3 other waves that day, but obviously not that one. The only other kiter out was Ben Wilson, but he went in when wind seemed too off shore. Not bad for a kid from Ocean City, New Jersey, USA. If you kite, search him, and check out his other videos and pics. He's an amazing strapless aerialist as well.
Mark is very lucky. To attempt that wave strapless he took a huge risk. With what looks like a regular kite surfboard and no flotation vest. He's welcome in Maui to have a go at Jaws. Might want to put the straps on though.

sick, credit to him for making 3 waves! massive balls
such a heavy wave when big. in front shesh kebabs, and backdooring (if you can) may find you in the worst possible spot, one of few waves that gets more heavy as it rolls through.
I had to watch a friend get trashed and get washed through.. didnt see them for 25 mins..gave me nightmares.
buy him an inflato wetsuit.. most of the guys out this week were wearing them. and as laird said, dont fall off too!
been hanging out and some of my nz stomping grounds i see on insta.. sick..
