Snowboarding has had a very rough relationship with the Ski Federation for 20 years now since it claimed to be the authority of all snowboarding despite snowboarding running their own show previous to the olympic snowboarding drive ($).
Snowboarding popularity has actually died since its involvement too.
This podcast highlights how rider safety in secondary to $ at the olympics. Only 5 women landed a clean run is super high winds, many were injured when given the choice of ride or we will cancel event with just minutes to decide and no structured rider safety meeting.
It is crazy that a private entity such as the world surf league will cancel an event for the safety of the riders (margs) and yet the Ski Federtation said " said hey you trained to 4 years for 30 seconds of riding and no we wont give you a reasonable opportunity to discuss this with the riders and give opinions to the director" basically due to tv advertising...
Anyway, kiteboarding via sailing safety is even worse.... way more different than ski vs snowboarding. One is a pilot, the other a helmsman.
Will world sailing have your back as a kiteboader?
Will they support and promote kiteboarding above and beyond sailing?
(World Sailing pay the IKA GKA to run kiteboarding events... ie they are subcontractors not organiations representing kiteboarding from the top down)
