Well the market decided with the help of lot of misinformation aka marketing. Now the performance advantages of foil kites are well proven, unbeatable in races and lightwind. Question of when they start to win something like KOTA, which would be when they are used. A lot more people are now using foil kites than before. With good reason they have distinct advantages in durability, portability, reliability, range, efficiency, power. Certainly will be interesting to see where the market goes. A lot of the myths about foil kites are now just laughable.
I don't see either technology of tubes or foil kites dying. Question is which will gain market share? Future looks good for foils in that regard.

Foil better in race competition...Agree..
All the rest its Dream..
Even light wind With hydrofoil if not in competition is more safe and same range of Wind with pump or strutless becouse Who care about upwind angle when a hydro do everything u Need...
U Will never see top rider in wave or freestyle with foil
Super light wind With twintips maybe big foil 18/21 better than pump but so boring better go with sup..
I think thats the market...
And Who cares what people use at the end

You are just dreaming if you think any tube can match a foil in lightwind. You are only arguing an 18 or 21m kite is boring because you don't have one or don't have the imagination to use it. I don't think tubes have the same range at all. Is there a tube kite that can do 15 to 45knots? or at the extreme 12 to 50knots? Or so safe you can self launch and land in those winds? And won't deathloop? oh all pump kites do that. How are they more safe then? Something to do with the tired, very tired old argument that they float? Wear flotation if you can't swim. Oh and foil kites float too
Foil kites do waves excellently, well surf for certain. They are quite competent at freestyle and the best at that in lightwind. Upwind angle is very important, being able to ride upwind quickly is the difference between having fun and not.
The kite brands care what people use, particularly the big brands that all have tube kites. It is to their advantage to be antifoil and they have, ButtsandMore particularly. They don't have in their stable the design talent to make one. They are heavily weighted with a large marketing department. Guys who talk and draw graphics and have no hope of designing a kite.
