Some years ago - never mind how long precisely - having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation. Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people's hats off - then, I account it high time to lay out my Pansh kite and tune the mixer as soon as I can. This is my substitute for computer aided design. With a philosophical flourish Kiteexpert throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to the KiteForum. There is nothing surprising in this. If they but knew it, almost all men in their degree, some time or other, cherish very nearly the same feelings towards the interweb with me.

Psycho...one day
You claim to only ride ram airs now w/ 10,000+ hours on them
Have you ridden tubes ever ?
If so how many hours ?
You did not answer my 2 questions

biggest disadvantages of tubes are PIN HOLE leaks
slow setup
leaving lines connected is a pain
Pin holes are rare and take less than 5 minutes to find on strut bladders or leading edge bladder when taken out..you need correct technique to find them
Set up is not that slow...pump a LEI 17 to 7 PSI in 60 seconds...and my lines are on already
So you don't leave your lines on your ram airs ? Explain yourself about the pain of leaving lines connected

I've always been used to leave bar/lines ** never detach ** on all the couple dozen ram airs i have had
All the foil guys here have converted from tubes, and continue the tradition of one bar for all their kites.

Yes, they take the bar off the kite and yes they get it all tangled.

Always good comedy watching them on the beach trying to untangle it.

An hour is stretching the joke a bit thin though.

I like what you wrote ...well said

Funny. With Hyperlink I’ve gotten in the habit of taking the bar off. I just attach front and back pigtails to each other then put them in the Velcro. It takes only moments to shake out the bridle.

Some people are bored, some have too much time, some to come to share knowledge and stoke. It’s not just the faceless internet - it leads to people you wouldn’t have met otherwise.

I leave my bar on if I can, once you get the hang of it, getting launched ( alone) is way easier than lei teather launch. Sometimes take it off too like Jakemoore, but my flysurfer doesn't have the Velcro... :angryfire:

BTW ..really enjoyed the funny foilholio novel...the best !!!

From early days of one kite only for first 6 months on 5.0 LEI Wipika the bar & lines were always on. So this was normal.

Got into ram airs afterwards.. had 11 sizes of them for several years. For each one of them built custom lengths Q power lines and custom width bars...and they stayed attached all the time.

When Silverarrows came out.. got the 15 & 19 ...really really liked that it came complete with lines attached to kites when brand new fresh out of the bag.

Had many more Flysurfers after that (got really good at adjusting the mixer to make them fly perfectly  )

So using the same logic with tubes...they need to be complete set-ups no matter the cost.

Got 7 size tubes now with all strings attached....ready to feel the pull at any time.

Packing tubes with bar & lines in the exact same way than with my ex- rams to insure zero tangles..zero bar flips...zero bar spins..when getting ready to launch..just unwind lines from bar and all 4 will be free and clean every time.
