Yeah in one of the Youtube vids Kev Langeree (SP, sorry) mentions being able to pump your kite up to 12 psi as the recommended pressure due to the new high tensile thread.
Is everything else beefed up enough to handle that pressure? If yes, that's awesome. I would love to really crank the psi up on my kite. They fly so much better at high pressure, the difference is quite tangible.
Loved my 2016 Pivots. They flew great, no Octo-issue, they took a beating and never once had a problem or repair.

Does anyone know what what brand & spec dacron they are using on the leading edge?
They have upgraded the thread, but what about LE material?
Cheers,
Chicken-loop
I dunno, but to me the harder you can pump the kite, the better experience I have with the kite. To me this is a pretty major upgrade even if the PSI recommendation from Naish was pretty high already. Also I love they actually write it on the kite.

Haha I see what you mean, but the kites were fantastic. I loved the helix.

I think one of the things they're doing right is significantly marking down last years gear at the end of the season. Last fall I picked up some Pivots at 40% off, brand new but last years model.
What that did was get me on the kites. I love them. Wouldn't change a thing. Naish is smart for getting their gear out there at a reasonable price!!!!!!!

The issue I have is that all these brands manufacture in the same place (China) and that generally speaking the price of brand new kites is too high.
People then have the tendency to wait for discount deals instead of buying brand new kites. This does not affect the brand but the distributors (i.e. the local shop) as they have to get rid of the old inventory before the new hits the shelves.
The next major shift in the kite industry business model will be to distribute direct to consumer, lowering the price but preserving margins (Switch Kites already does and so does Takoon in Europe...). From the latest press release regarding North Kiteboarding they essentially hint at a new business model, which might as well be it. I believe that Slingshot, Cabrinha, Naish and others need to adapt in order to survive.

I don't know is there possibility for them to change smth in the value chain... Maybe going direct is disadvantage. Otherwise they should have done it. I don't know.
Regarding the required pressure of the new Naish kites:
I have 2019 Dashes and I pump them from 11,5 to above 12 psi.
It takes an effort and good dual/single action pump.
So far no issues, and yes, the difference due to the stiffer frame is noticeable.

Taut,
Do your current Naish kites leading edges expand over time? Do you get a difference in leading edge diameter between where there is circumferential seam and where there is not?
The 9m Helix was my all time favourite kite and I always wanted a red bull one like Robby rode.
Cheers,

Still like my old Global and Skater, glad they keep em in the
line up. Not so sure what to make of the
W tail shapes on the 3 new boards, seems like maybe a marketing differentiator/refresh/gimmick/thingamajig

I have not measured the LE but have not noticed any expansion the stitching looks fine by me. I do tend to pump it harder than the recommended PSI but I don't trust my pump..so I crank it. I'm not recommending that but I have not had any issues. I like a LE that responds.
Every time I hear people give sigma shit I'm thinking they didn't ride the kite
I think the pivot is better but the rounded helix 9 experience was almost there. My all time favorite design was the black helix with a huge skull on it.
