11.8 Airblast Wipika is different measurements in designation than today's kites. This 11.8 is like 16 m today.

I think the idea was that the bridle let you reverse launch the kite. I remember watching a guy tryong to do it in small waves back in 2001 and it didn't work. I thought all of the AirBlasts delaminated, this kite must have been after they fixed that problem.
There are better kites than this sitting in garages, unsold because it would be irresponsible to sell them to people who don't know what they are doing.

I had one of them.
it scared me badly.
still have nightmares, and only have therapy once a month now.
once you get them going you have to get someone to shoot it out of the sky to stop it,
flipping animal.

wipika, the pioneering brand.. i liked wipika... it stood for by kiters for kiters ... today you have multinationals controlling your brands.. they dont even kite.

anyway, the low depower, heavy turning were features highly regarded at the time, thought to be high depower and fast turning..

me and friends learnt on shit like this, or worse.. wasnt that bad.. hmm actually there were some monents.. !

i had a freeair up untill last year.. no delamination 17 years later.. was a bad batch of mylar i reckon.. those kites were soooo light and easy to travel with.

Thanks for the replies I knew I would get a lot of stick for even thinking about flying it.
I drive a 1950 beach buggy which is tax free and MOT exempt with no safety features what so ever so I guess flying the kite will be loads safer I will certainly post pics once it's flying.

Give it a go, a lot of us learnt on that kit, and we are still here ! not flying it is like saying " I won't ride that motorcycle because it has drum brakes, or I won't fly that TIger Moth/Spitfire because it's a bit old school"

That said, I would suggest you first fly it on a low wind day, and have a plan B !
