Bar pressure Cab. Switchblade 2018

Postby reante » Sun Aug 12, 2018 11:12 am

Hi,

i am concidering to replace my Ocean rodeo Rise 8 meter for a Cabrinha Switchblade 2018 , 8 meter but i am i little bit concerned about the bar pressure of the Switchblade.
i am hearing the bar pressure is high , is that true ? i am looking for kite with not too much bressure on the bar , so would the switchblade be the right choice ?

Maybe anyone who is flying the 8 meter Switchblade can help me .

kind regards

R...

Hey I'm an instructor working with cabrinha everyday for the past 3 months , we usually rent switchblades and I ride them pretty much everyday . I absolutely love this kite so much especially the smaller sizes, I've hear before about the bar pressure but I took a 7m out in 35kts and had a good long session with no issues .

It has got slightly more bar pressure than my bandit X for example but I prefer it , it's definatley not uncomfortable or very strong bar pressure though.

If I could get a quiver of switchblades I would definatley go for it , my style is mostly big air , kiteloops and a bit of unhooked.

If your more into just cruising up and down or foiling then maybe go for another kite .

Hope this helps

Barry

I've got 12, 10 and 8m 2018 Switchblades. I've put all my kites on the B-setting.

Guess if you're used to really light bar pressure, you'll notice the difference ... but high pressure? Nah.

PS. I'm about 40% foiling, 40% TT and 20% directional riding.

I owned the 2014s and they were high bar pressure. Haven't tried the latest model.

Im guessing you've done your homework and know the pros and cons of the switchblade. Great learner kite for your first few years of kiting but it will slow your progression once you're ready for looping and unhooking.

Fantastic allround kites :thumb:
Ask to Nick Jacobsen winner of a KOTA with the Switchblade if it's not a kite for looping... :D :o
Maybe you need to do your homework....

What he said... if you're learning kiteloops you don't want a kite that has the power of a c kite through the loop with the slowness of a bow kite. But as I said, I haven't flown one since 2014 and maybe they're more friendly for looping now...?
