Moses 590 good for what?

Postby NEkitesurfing » Mon Sep 17, 2018 6:02 pm

MOSES sells the 590 wing in their easy foil package. But in many posts has been mentioned that the ONDA Kite package with the 633 wing is significantly easier to control and needs less speed than the easy foil with 590 wing. So the really easy foil is the ONDA Kite Foil with the 633 wing which comes from the SUP Foil category and not the "Easy Foil" with the 590 wing?
From super slow and easy to faster and more challenging: 633 -> 683-S -> 590 ...?
Is it only a matter of time when MOSES will offer the 683-S in the Kite category as well? Who uses the 590 and for which purpose?

I have both and the 550 and had the 548.
The 590 is faster for sure. It is fairly forgiving.
The 633 is significantly slower minimum speed and stability, but is actually more agile. It has about 5km/he slower cruising speed.
I'd get the 633 first, then try the 550 or even the freerace wing (637) as compliment. I have not tried the freerace wing.
The 590 will not fly well or at all with sea grass on it. The 633 keeps going with sea grass on it. This has saved many late season sessions for me, when we now have a lot of sea grass

633->683S->590->558->637 I’d say
I hoe very much Moses will come up with a larger wing for 647 kitefoil fuselage

Unfortunately 483 stabilizer collects all the grass. I hope they make more arrowhead stabilizers too

Ok, thanks for sharing your experiences but when would you use the 590 wing? The 548 planes early as well, is fast, more agile than the 590. The Race Wing planes early and is significantly faster than the 590. The 590 wing looks modern and is newer than the other smaller wings? What advantage offers the 590 wing?

590 goes up earlier than 548 and way earlier than 637
590 stalls at lower speed than 548 and has certainly better lowend than 637
590 catches less seaweed than 548

548 is pretty much history, and I can’t see why would Moses keep its production up unless it’s really fun thing to do.

Besides that and besides being an amazing wing I guess “what else did Romans do for us?”

I actually think 548 and 637 are the two best two wings Moses made. 548 for big wind and carve/freestyle days and and 637 for racing. 548 is way more agile than 590. Liked it so much that I got second one just in case they stop making it. You can actually spray the lip on the wave with 548. It's also the most physically intensive wing Moses makes and gives you similar intensity as a twintip.

Up until two weeks ago used to think 633 was amazing as well, but not so much anymore after going back to Lift 150. That is one hell of a wing as well.

Just spent some time learning to ride a foilboard. Started with a 633 Onda setup with foot hooks which was 30 minutes of chaos until i figured out (thank you kiteforum) that I was too far back on the board. Ripped them off and away I went almost straight away. Super easy to learn on and only needed a couple of hours to get the hang of things. But.. I had and still feel it was a hard time with the steep lift vs. speed gradient on the 633. Managing speed is difficult in the beginning and the 633, with just a slight increase in speed it pushes hard upwards and simply was difficult to manage in my mind. Really liked the turning and "skate" feel of it on a 71cm mast tough. I was doing carves to toeside riding in less than three hours on the water.

Bought a 590 and have now been riding on it for a few days on a 97cm mast. I would like to get back on the 633 to compare but really think the 590, with what I feel a is a much more relaxed increase in lift vs. speed over the 633, is much more forgiving. The 590 is also a wing that gets me foiling at quite low speeds, not ultra-slow like 633 but still very slow. All in all I feel the 590 is perhaps a better wing to learn on. In addition it uses standard fuse and stab which is nice because I can now install the 550 or even the 580 that I got when buying a used complete set from a friend and play around with exploring different speeds and conditions. Also can really do without the dagger-shaped 483 stab which is a bit of a scare to fall in proximity of when learning.

Would really like the 633 as well but do not knock the 590, it is a slow and stable wing to play with and quite easy to learn on in my mind! as many other I am sure, I am holding off on getting an Onda kit and instead eagerly await Moses releasing a kite-targeted big wing. The 633 as I understand things was really developed for surf and hence a different speed behavior.

great post TOMTOM...

I also am awaiting ANY kind of good feedback of experienced wave kite foilers regarding the differences between the 633 and the 683. There is one very good video on youtube by the distributors in Miami that really lauds the 633 but makes scant mention of the 683 attributes except to say "experienced foilers will appreciate the increased agility of the 683."

The fact that someone mentioned that the 633 dumps teh seagrass better is SUPER important for all of us suffering through the WORST sargassum in Caribbean (recent) history for sure...but like someone else pointed out..its equally important that the Stab not pick up grass either.

So, if ANYBODY out there can comment upon the 683 for kiting in waves...
Does it have much more top end?
Is it a much better Jumping foil?

Anyone know if Moses will try to create the next iteration with a FUSE that can work with ALL the other Moses wings? Seems like right now anyone buying the 633 setup has ONLY the choice to use the 633 and 683 wings on that particular fuse.

633 was clean of seaweed while 483 stabilizer would collect the hell of it. Funny situation but I hope Moses makes more of arrowhead wings and stabilizers thinking of folks like us.

And yes, a larger, arrowhead wing matching 647 fuselage would be awesome. If they don’t release one, I’ll get a 683S wing and play with it but I really like compact and lighter kitefoil fuselage
