After my last session this Saturday I noticed that the plastic centerline sleeve has cracked/broken (see pic below).

Should I be concerned about this and repair or replace it? Or does it really not matter?
Thanks for your feedback on this!!!

That's an old bar. I personally would replace it, not worth the shit storm a snapped center line can cause, especially if you're boosting. You should be able to find a Cab bar for around $300 US if you shop around.. It will be last years model at that price.

I have exactly the same problem. I have 2 bars and both of them have the plastic clamp and ring broken. I'm looking to buy new bar but keep my old kite for the moment. SB 2009 10m and 14m

If you want to keep using that bar and it has seen alot of use you should change (or at least check for wear) the centerline. I have broken the centerline on two of my much newer Cab bars (2014 and 2015). The tendency is to think that the centerline wont wear because it is covered, but if you kite like most people from a sandy beach, the sand finds its way in there and wears the line without you being able to see how bad it is.

Thanks for the feedback! Although the bar is old, it doesn't get a lot of use. And when it is used it is thoroughly rinsed with fresh water (I spray water through the plastic sleeve to rinse out any salt, sand). But I will remove the sleeve to check the centerline and the IDS line to make sure they are OK. Thanks again! :thumb:

I told you I have same problem with override plastique sleeve and the ring. I tried to find that part and everywhere told me it was to old to find it. So I wrote to Cabrinha to ask them if I would like to buy a new bar if it will work with my Switchbalde 2009. There is the answere the send me. If it can help you.

I appreciate the information, but a new bar is out of the question for me. Cost prohibitive as a new Cabrinha bar is going to run at least $400 or more. And last years bars are only about $100 cheaper. Before I pay that, I will replace the CL and IDS line or will build a new bar myself. There is a lot of good information on this forum about building control bars. Cheers!!

I just found new override sleeve and ring. They're realy cheap. Around $10,00 they told me and they have a couple of those in stock. I'll buy a couple for myself. I'll be able to use my old override IDS bar again. Happy. Yes new bars cost a lot of money. I found used one on eBay but it's still $200,00. Do your bars your nice? I just buy that used stock and never try it yet so.

I'm glad you found what you needed.

I have not yet figured out how to remove the plastic sleeve on my Cabrinha bar. I think it is sewn into the centerline at both ends, so I may just have to cut the stitching at both ends and it will hopefully slide off. Once I get it off I will see if there is a sleeve available from Cabrinha or I will retrofit with some plastic tubing.

Be safe!!
