Maybe you could leave your kite pumped up overnight in a tent with the lines still on. In the morning 2 quick pumps to top it off and go....lol
I still like to run my line out to feel for nicks and worn areas. Safety first?

Knotwindy, that is actually a good point. Running out your lines is a smart thing to do, because you check by feel....

What's with the rush anyway. Setting up the gear with the wind in your hair, eyeing the waves and whitecaps...is all part of the session. Foreplay, if you like. Who cares about a minute more or less. Kiting is supposed to be stress relief, worrying about a minute more or less induces stress.

Disagree.

Agree that it is a stress relief yes, but....

If you are off work late, and the sun is about to set, the wind about to die - then you will get high blood pressure maybe a heart attack if you have to struggle using too much time rigging up, while the others are having the joy of their life out there :o

Otherwise, if you enjoy rigging every day, you should get a kite without one-pump, and one without non-return-valves in the small struts, and last but not least, get the good old hand pump - THEN you will have to enjoy rigging, as you will use more time on this, than on the water :thumb:

I know.

I most often get into the wetsuit, then roll my lines out, and pump a kite as the last thing, so I know how the wind is and can choose size without hesitation now :D

This is a funny thread. If you really want to save serious time and get on the water faster, then quit your job and move to the beach. :cool2: Or, second best, work remotely and ...... move to the beach. :thumb:

But working is also great as the contrast and very rewarding in itself (depending on the work, I know), increases the overall "joy and excitement" when you get out, for many :thumb:

"Living on the beach" is not as great as it sounds, a few can do this but I think most can not

Besides, earning money if you dont have a rich uncle or inherited is necessary for your gear and family :naughty:

Working as an instructor is the last way I want to "surf" now (been there for quite some years earlier) as you get to ride very little yourself, and often in very restricted areas and no waves, and you have to dress too warm than if you would ride yourself :(

It is great to "give" something to others, indeed, and this in itself is very good of course - but for getting to surf more, it is not good IMO.

Correct, working remotely works top, only but is, you might be out all alone when it really works max, as everybody else is on work - so not that pleasant either.
If you know a few others who work the same way, it can work just perfect though, true!

Peter has a good point especially with his sunset around 4:00 and last light 4:30...." lines already on" becomes a bonus to get out ASAP
Working is great if your hours make it possible to not miss a day of wind... better yet if work and live at beach....near spot
Finding the ritual of removing the lines at end of session not for me
Really enjoy more a precise pack down with lines on.....& as you wind your lines on the bar you "can feel " for nicks or cuts on them at that time
Mostly use the same two kite sizes all the time.....and fortunate to go several times a week .....so decided to do the same with my three other ones
Of course it is a big expense to the total cost when you have many kites
Lots of people are weekend warriors and make a day of it....so setting up and taking their time....making sure all is perfect is just fine
And look at Toby...he uses 1 kite size....but his routine is to take lines off...and put them back on again the next time....his choice...it's all good

Takes me 5 minutes from pulling the kite out of the bag to being on the water but I fly foils with the bar still attached. I’ve done this during those full moon midnight sessions as well without issue.
