It seems that my club fellows are doing the same.
10 riders and it looks no inflatable within three years.
Have you tried slamming a hard down loop in front of a wave and mid turn crashing it ?

Not all of us like to just mow lawn lol

There is Merit in both shapes :)

Yawn. Pmu still at it? #fhl clearly his family life has got no better. Maybe he's finally found out the milkman been doing his wife and is a foil kite fan.

Keep in mind is was the only submission made for the Olympic kite class. Regardless, being Olympic is great for kitesurfing.

@james: did you see the winning run? I wonder if they are using foils for lighter winds. This is supposed to be Alex Caizergues

Speed records are made in very high wind speeds, like in Oman up to 56knot gusts resulting a bit over 50knt speed on water. On ice higher speeds are not uncommon and those are mostly made with LEI's.

So in this respect there probably isn't much difference. Many foil kites have quite a lot bridle lines which may cause too much drag in very high speeds, but I'm not sure if it is so. With PG's (designed for much lower air speeds) it was a step forward when wings with only three line rows came.

I could design a special foil kite for speed, but it would be quite complex kite. It is also difficult sport to do or develop equipment because conditions for going really fast (>40kn) are so rare.

Right, Martha’s Vineyard is in the USA

Oman is in the Middle East

Google it. Oman held the speed world champs in August
Martha’s held NASSI this October

so many ignorant trolls here...

Rob D is using the soul for his foil kites (over 50 knots in something like 30 knots of wind) past that he uses Cab tubes. James was actually there and came 7th from memory, he knows more than most of you.

At Marthas vinyard, when it was gusting 56 knots, he was using cab tube kite as in that wind a tube makes more sense.

Anyone here discounting foil kites due to how they were 10 years ago is a fool, plain and simple.

Wind in Oman only reached a 27 kt average wind speed but water conditions were incredible as was angle I had personal best speeds (48.5 peak and 45.5 average 250m) as did all all except the top 4 places
That is alex in the picture

I don’t know if I saw the EXACT run as I was on the water as well

Rob and alex used foils in all the wind speed we had out there

My biggest kite was an 11m foil at 97kg we had two days when the top riders were on 11-15m foils and tubes average wind of 15-17 kts

Consequently I dropped from 5th on the first day to 7th

Anyway

For speed in certain conditions on certain boards they work incredibly, in other conditions tubes are more secure and comfortable
