Hi everybody,
I'm a kitesurf instructor and presently in the US.
I'm looking for a spot where I could teach.
It should be a not regulated beach, large enough and where other self employed kite instructor occasionnaly work ...
I was thinking Florida, Texas or California, but it could be anywhere else as long as the water is not too cold during winter.
Does anyone have an idea ?

I heard Florida and Southern California winds are quite light. But also Florida Keys or South Padre Island are two spots I’d call “not being too cold”

Do you know some specific beaches where it could be possible to teach without having problems with local schools or authorities ?

Anywhere as long as you get permit, insurance and pay your taxes...
Well, none of schools are going to want competition though. But some might be hiring.

Florida is highly regulated and a number of fly by night schools have led to permanent beach closures in the Miami area. Please respect the local community and ensure that you are sanctioned through the local government. I can't speak for Texas, but SoCal is also highly regulated. Good luck.

Cab Driver's comments are very true, especially in South Florida. We have fewer regulatory issues (also fewer kiteboarders and fewer people, in general) in Central Florida, the Panhandle, and the Central West Coast.
My advice would be to contact the kite schools and instructors in the areas where you are considering teaching. I've taught in schools and independently, and I've always found the kiteboarding community to be cordial and supportive of one another. If you just show up and start teaching on "someone else's beach", you may get a cold shoulder. But if you talk to the locals in advance (schools, independent instructors, and local kiteboarders), you'll have a much easier time. You'll make some friends; you'll gain some first-hand knowledge about the area, the market, and local regulations; and you might make business contacts that will expand your opportunities well beyond what you've envisioned.

South Padre Island TX goes off all winter. Temps swing from cold to hot on a weekly basis.

The only unregulated area on South Padre is Outlaw Beach, technically it is trespassing but it has not been closed off yet. When it is busy you can compete against 3 to 4 other non-local Bandit instructors...Other locations have regulations with legit local kite schools.
