I had an old C-type kite size 14, which had a fabric in good condition. I cut it. Made a new project. Size 8, AR 5.33. Is almost ready.

Wow!! VVS, that looks really nice!!!. Have you had a chance to fly it yet? What program did you use for your design? Surfplan? I've got a couple of old C kites I was thinking of using, but a hate printing out all of the plans on 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of paper and having to tape them together. Any tips?

Hello zmax,

Yes I have a hint for you! Try Ikdesign -> http://www.wingdesignsoftware.net/indexEN.htm
There is no print option on the Demo version, but when you finish your project, just send it to the program developer and he pass it to .DXL file for you print it in large format :D
I hope this helps.

Best regards,
Pedro

Alternatively, you can download PDFCreator from the sourceforge community.
http://www.pdfforge.org/pdfcreator

Add a printer to surfplan and pick pdfcreator as one of your printers. You can set the printer settings to standard size A0 and print directly to pdf.

I set mine up to A0, overlay to save some paper, and then go to a local printer shop. Takes away the pain of gluing all those 8x11 prints.

Additional tips:

I forgot to mention, I have the full version, but if you use the free version of PDFCreator, the software does not allow you to preview your prints, I think you have to pay for the full version to get this function.

Workaround, download printer devices capable of wide printing, like an Epson SC-T7000 and install the drivers and create a printer for this device. You can then select that in your Surfplan print setup and pick the appropriate size paper. You can now view what your plan is going to be printed out.

Make sure to consult your local printer shop on the width that they can print your format, you don't want to go to the shop with the wrong width, you will be wasting time and money.

Plan ahead when you make your panels, make sure the panels you create are within the width of your available wide printer.

Final step tip before printing:
From my experience, Surfplan demo version does not care about print boundaries, so when you setup your printer, your plan will not line up. I have to use either Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Acrobat to "stitch" together the plans that do not line up so I have smooth panels I can trace to my cloth.

Hope this helps,
Rey
