Board 137x43

Postby Raslikk » Wed May 20, 2015 11:55 am

Hey, so we threw on another piece full carbon, paulownia core. The size of 137x43. It is not yet finished works, so far only the bottom.

Errors: objebvují bubbles and pinholes in places, probably a little resin. Otherwise, the shape is already well-established.

Topside - the first two layers perpendicular to the long side, at the core of two lanes with a width of 20 cm in 45 degrees
lower side - all layers perpendicular to the longer side.

Nice.

But don't you think that this a bit overkill with so much carbon and glass?

This must be a wakeboard or a bulldozer of the board  Also, what is the weight? 3kg?

Just saying coz my 11mm Paulownia is strong as with only 1 200g uni fg on bottom and even less fg on top.

D.

PS
The above is 1x200g not 1200g ;) Thanks for pointing this out !

They not too flexi with that little amount of glass? I use Paulawnia too, usually shape my cores down to around 8mm centre / 4mm tips and even with plenty of glass they come out like a wet noodle, unless I use carbon to stiffen them up.

Your 8mm at centre is 8^3, which is 2.5 less stiff than 11^3mm and 6.6 times less than 15mm :D

The result is cubed in a formula for a stiffness of an I-beam. For sure it is increased with wood +
carbon.

Yeah I get the theory, not sure bout your numbers though, '8^3', with 8 being my core thickness where do you get the 3 from and what does the '^' represent? Yeh I imagine you don't need much glass with an 11mm wood core but I was referring to some of you other boards iv'e seen, you seem to use very little glass/resin and come out with very low weights compared with mine, which unless they flex like a noodle and break easily is very impressive.
