Hi everyone.
You may have read my previous post asking about forming a rocker in a paulownia wood core.
Following that post, as promised I would upload some progress photos of my board so far.
This is my first board build and finding it just as fun as learning to wakeboard over my local cable park. I have been wakeboarding for about 6 months now and instead of buying a standard set up I thought I would build my own. This is the first time I have used a forum and finding this site very helpful and welcoming.
I would be happy to hear your comments and suggestions on my build and no doubt I will be asking for some friendly advice and who knows maybe giving some based on my first experience.
so here it goes:
The delivery from Junksupply.com - wakeboard package:
Building the rocker table:
Building the jig to tapper the tips:
Making the board template:
Routing the channel for the rails:
Drilled holes for the inserts:
Fitted the inserts and poured the rails:
Over poured the resin so I could sand it down flat to the board:
cutting the board out:
Thinning the tips:
Used the belt sander to tapper the edges creating a slight bevel along the rails:
Happy so far:
Decided to burn my graphics into the wood to make it more personal and rustic looking:
This is where I'm at now. Thinking about burning a couple more graphics into the wood and making it look like a map.
Then its onto pre bending the board before I lay it up.
Wish me luck
