Info database?

Postby pj sofine » Wed Aug 24, 2016 3:47 pm

Found this section of forum after needing a break from the kitesurfing forum :baby: I've been looking through threads for about 5 hrs so far! If I can get motivated I think I'll join the ranks of boardbuilders(built windsurfers in the past) I've been adding various links for supplies and different tips. Still lots of ?'s so be patient :allbegood: . Whats a popular layup consist of on a twintip? I know a lot depends on type of board. Is there a source for what the board companies use on their boards? !st board I may attempt wood be a lighter wind board around 146 x 46.Does layup change a lot depending on core material choice? Thanks
Oh and is there a way to find info faster than a standard search?

Yes. Your layup will depend on the core. For a 146x46 light wind wood core first build i'd suggest a basic fibrglass layup first time. Then progress from there.

Here's my 5mm bamboo with 600gm triaxle glass coffin lid board. 145x45cm. Its a basic heavy as hell board. But it works well in light winds.

Thanks, how about rocker spring back? Any hard and fast rules when using wood(Palounia) .And how do you figure static rocker vs what you actually get when riding the board?. If you copy a board you like and the stiffness is different it will throw everything off. Trial and error seems a little offputting!

FEA and CFD analyses could be an option. Might not be as fast though. Depends where you are.

Research, research, research. Piggy back of other builders mistakes and ideas, plus look closely at manufactured boards. Then suck it and see!

Thanks again,I'll probably spend more time reading than actually building.Also.I have a handicap,I'm half Polish and 1/4 irish,1/4 Scottish. A little slow, thrifty and drink to much.
