In this case, two sheets of 3mm mapple plywood plus a spinal core. The board thickness is 9mm.
I think there are two conceptions in building a board. A very lightweight and fragile core, with a strong and heavy lamination; and a strong and heavyweight core with lightweight lamination.
I choosed the second way.

Weight? My first Oval was 4kgs naked.
The second was 3,6 kgs
I hope this carbon version will weight no much more than 3 kgs naked.

Nice build.

None of my builds are in this as described :)

4kg is quite heavy for 2x3mm plywood. Not sure what a spinal cord 3mm is?

Yes, there is definitely some room for the weight reduction. Using a wood strips is a lot more work but would be much lighter. Carbon for sure. But I just love the wood grain, and man, my customers love it too :)

What are u using for the footpads inserts?

Downunder, I eléctric weld stainless steel nuts with washers for the inserts.

Here you have a picture of spinal cord.

My very first oval was 7 mm thick, 4mm+3 mm plywood. I finished it and test it and found there was too much flex at 45 degrees and this stresses the wood core. The deep concave must be rigid, and if stretches it can break the wood. I am a tall heavy weight guy, more than 200 lbs. So I had to put more fiber glass and resin layers.

My second core had spinal cord. 9 mm thickness and it didn't flex at all. 2.4 kg the core naked. 2 or 3 layers in the bottom plus 2 layers at the top plus painting. Weighted 3.6 kg naked.

I live in south america, and materials are not excellent for some purposes and some other materials are impossible to get. Anyway, I can handle. I vacuum bag all my boards.

Dont misunderstand me. I love the grain of the wood too. But i hate to glue stripes- I Prefer layers, like in skateboarding construction.

Several years ago a known craftsman of my city was doing very lightweight kiri kiteboards, with 2 layers of 200 gr of FG on top and the same in the bottom. Very flex and light and very nice construction. But that was not for me. If i land hard one of those boards, it would transform quickly in toothpicks. :D

Here I go. Thruster configuration optional.

Spinal cord! :D
I like the name. I do something similar.
Also, for inserts, same thing : SS nuts with welded washers.
