nice wavekite video's but.....

Postby naishdude » Fri Nov 02, 2012 8:33 pm

Nowadays we get the nicest videos about guys and their waveboards, strapped, strapless.
Most of the time, we see the nicest waveriding, schredding waves and different styles.
But....what I seem to miss, is how these wavers get through this massive surf, breaks, high waves.
This could also be interesting, to see how to etc...

Suggestions, links?

I just wanted to say, that on all these nice wavekite movies, in 90% of the cases, you see the guys coming in with the waves, little show how they get out through those massive waves...

I'm with you NaishKite.

I also would like to see a zoomed back shot once in a while, so you can see what they are doing with the kite while they rided. The close up slashes are great and all ... but the kite flying is real deal.

As well, quick cuts of slo-mo slashes over and over get tiresome.....show a whole wave, start to finish, even if they wipeout at end (or maybe especially if they wipeout). Let's see the full ride, that's stoking.

On the Naish comment from both you an Toby, a massive +1.

On the zoomed out video, I've always wondered the same, how come they don't show the entire thing, to me what the kite is doing is just as interesting as seen these dudes kill it on the wave, but what's the kite doing at what time. Totally agree.

So, PixelPedro, by any chance are you over 40? In the surfing community, its the old guys who cry about this ... want to see the whole wave, want to see the set up, etc.....the youngsters, they just want to see the big move!

But in kiting the thing that surprises me a little....if it's the kite maker who is creating the video, you'd think it might help push kite sales to showcase the kite a little more? But maybe not....those magazine ads with the rad dudes showing their ripped abs with the hottie on their arm, are selling nothing more than sizzle, and it's the same here. Oops, there I go again, more "old guy bitching and moaning".

Most wave spots in the movies have flat spots at the end of the waves where you can just cruse back out jibe and cruse back the exact spot you need to be in.

Went to one spot in indo, 8-10ft fa
Flat water launch spot, go down wind 50m heel hard and go straight out. Go out 600m turn around ride toe side straight to the breaking spot. Ride away. Not a super rider but still had fun on the biggest waves I have ever ridden.

They get out just as easy or difficult as surfers, except a lot faster : )

This is from back when they rode mutants and C-kites. He jumps some massive waves on the way out at the end of the Waveriding part 2 clip.
