New arguments for the old discussion “Straps vs Strapless”

Postby Kite_Lee » Sat Nov 19, 2016 10:48 pm

Hi everyone,
Straps or strapless? Both have advantages and disadvantages, but a third option is being created in an attempt of having simultaneously the best of the two worlds.
What advantages of each riding style do you think are most relevant?
Do you think that if the board stays on your feet by means that won’t injury your knees and ankles, you will dare riskier manoeuvres?
Please have this discussion here and let us know more about it, answering a few questions on the link below.
Many thanks,
The creative team of the third option.

If that's something on the board, I'll trip over it. They'd have to be bloody magical for me to bother, and blue because I'm a strapless snob

its no different to surfing really - when it gets big and bumpy strap make things possible

as far as progression goes though strapless kiting is smoking every discipline in kiting right now!

Kamikuza, thanks for your feedback.
Yes, there will be something on the board, but you won't trip over because it will be flat on the board.
Yes, I think it will be preaty magic.
Regarding the blue, there is no easy solution to acheave it. If you ever concider using this solution in it's natural color, I hope it will be available in near future.

Longwhitecloud, thanks for your answer.
Yes for the competitions and the experts, strapless is here to stay, and I appreciate that. But what about the 'normal' humans that also like to do aereal manoeuvres with the surf board? Are we doomed to use foot straps? :) And even for the pros, there are sitiuations that require foot straps.
I'm working on this, so that in tose situations they won't have to suffer the disadvantages of foot straps.

"Do you think that if the board stays on your feet by means that won’t injury your knees and ankles, you will dare riskier manoeuvres?"

i dont think there is a huge difference in risk to injury - not being able to get out of surfboard straps very easily would be a big problem though.

Whatever happens you are do the right thing doing market research before you spend $$$$

I am for sure not your target market though as I like the freedom to move my feet into any position on the board to suit going up wind, or wave riding..

You may not be my target but not for the reason you mentioned, since my solution allows exactly that. You can put your feet anywhere you want on the board and adjust the position easily. Sounds Magic? :D
