Cabrinha’s Kafka… Again
The 10th night of the Cabrinha Race Series once again saw Jeff Kafka (Cabrinha) dominate the evening. Jeff was working in Fiji for the 9th night of racing giving his closest competitors the opportunity to make up some ground on the overall series leader, while the 10th night of racing saw his competitors return the favor; Anthony Chavez, Chris Brown and Chip Wasson were all out of town and Jeff took advantage and finished first for the evening with 2 points (1,1)
Just prior to racing the winds were difficult to read. Kafka gave it a quick test on his 14 Contra 3 and came back in and rigged his 12 Crossbow 3. The winds at the skippers meeting were averaging 20(18-24) with about a 4 knot ebb. By race time with everyone out on the water, the winds dropped to about 15-17 (8-20) but a little better outside as usual.
In the first race Jono (Johnathon Buys) on a borrowed kite for the second consecutive race night (my favorite brand) got by far his best start of the season and was right with the leaders…in fact he was the leader as they approached the lay line. Although Jono didn’t finish in the money, he had his best race night of the season remarking â€Â
