Bruno is a good guy, he spent a lot of time at our beach in San Francisco getting ready for the world championships, but....Sean Farley won the worlds with Chip Wasson in 2nd. Doesn't that make Sean "world champion 2009"?

Sean Farley is an incredible, amazing rider and he rides what to me are the best racing boards available (NJS), so is Mr. Wasson and most the riders from the SF crew could compete and get top places at highest level in any race they entered.

But all through the season Messieur Bruno Sroka has swept all his competitors in light and strong winds, short and long courses, flat and wavy seas, small and big fleets. He has demonstrated he is the most polivalent racer, not to talk his/Rista's contribution to racing board development.

In fact the only competition he has not won has been the San Fran "Worlds". About the fact he had spent a lot of time traning at SF, I think he entered 2 or 3 races sooner in the season (and he swept them all, btw, against Wasson, Farley and all the others) but he arrived to the "Worlds" just the night before the races did begin (same for J. Richman, Hanel, Boese, Bridge, etc,...)

So, imho, and never never never never aiming to steal any merit to Farley, who (again) is an AMAZING, INCREDIBLE, VERY VERY FAST rider and a very cool and humble guy..... let's give to Caesar what is Caesar's.

From my point of view, and taking into consideration the whole season's results, Sean Farley has won the "2009 San Francisco Worlds" but Bruno Sroka is 2009 World Champion.

Kakanala is right: One is chapion on the World Tour and the other is champion of the world champioships. Like in downhill skiing, you could be champion of the Worldcup and not in the world champioships. Life is life. Next year at the wolds, I am sure Bruno will not do the same mistake he did this year. These things happen, Robby Naish once sailed in the wrong heat and was disqualified, things happen even to the best of them and Bruno should be able to clear the slate on this one next year. All these course racers really make the sport evolve in a important way for those of us who sail in a less than perfect conditions...
Congrats to all of them.

Course racing is a joke. A bunch of rejects. Worse then "pro" kitesurfing in 1998 when it was a bunch rejects that couldn't make it in pro windsurfing.

Lame ass sport on top of it all which is I guess what attracts all the losers that can't do freestyle.

it takes a lot of effort to develop and test those boards, plus the high level of physical preparation for the race..try it yourself and then tell us about it!

superstoke: time to tone it down.

Racing is a part of our sport, same as freestyle, wave, wakestyle and boardoffs.

Face it, and don't think current Freestyle is the best there is because you are doing it.
Current freestyle events are lame, the majority knows. Time to realize it. You will see a change in the future!

Toby, why even worry about "superstoke"?
It's fair why he hates kiteracing:
It's well known that some brain is actually needed for going into racing :naughty:
