IKA Max kite size???

Postby Guttorm » Sat Sep 28, 2013 3:55 pm

Some places it says it's a 19 max size, and some says it is deleted....
For all the heavy kiters out there it would be very unfair with a upper limit.
How can a + 90 kg guy realy compete in less than 10 knots with racers in the 60-70 kg range???

Personaly I would like to see efficient kites in the 20-25m range developed to give all the people in light wind spots more and better days on the water. :thumb:

There are no upper max m2 size. You can registre one kite below 9, one below 11, one between 11-15 and one above 15.
You can always argue that a lighter rider has advantage in light wind and heavy rider advantage in strong. But the lighter riders normally have a 7-17 combo and the heavier a 9-19. So it is pretty fair for everybody nomatter weigh. But a perfect fit athlete should not be a fat guy on 140 kg. No matter what the sport. You can easily be 2m height and weight 100 kg. Beeing competitative fit.

But if foil will be the future of racing they probably need to change the size rule as you need smaller kites here
