MASTER OF THE OCEAN
Master of the Ocean is the world’s most complete watersport competition in four categories, which has created a new class of elite and multi-sport waterman/woman.
As the only competition of its kind, Master of the Ocean challenges the most skilled Surfers, Windsurfers, Kitesurfers and Subsurfers with 5 days of extreme water skills and showcases the best of the Caribbean-Cabarete-Northshore-of the Dominican Republic.
The panel of expert, internationally acclaimed judges meet in Cabarete each year from all over the world and will choose only one special athlete to be the Master of the Ocean!
Originally conceived as the “Iron Man of Water Sports”, the competition was created by German waterman Marcus Bohm , with the idea of providing an opportunity for Dominicans and Dominican residents to compete side by side with international professionals.
Because of the the passion, vision and support of true regional, national and international partners, the event has grown consistently and will celebrate its 10th anniversary with even bolder ideas and objectives in the future!
NOTICE OF RACE
DISCIPLINES
There will be four disciplines – surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing and stand up paddle board (SUP). All disciplines will be judged on surfing waves, jumps and tricks performed during riding the wave and freestyle manoeuvres using the wave. Overall impression is the main focus for judges with weight given to performance on or using waves.
(Master) Individual: 16 riders for each discipline will be selected at the discretion of the organisers taking into consideration recent performances and previous MOTO experience and results. It will be an expression session style format with a super final.
Team: 4 riders per team, members and their disciplines to be lodged at registration. A member from each team will compete in 1 discipline and the combined scores will give team result.
Overall: 32 riders

PRIZES Prizes will be awarded for the overall winner,2nd and 3rd. 1st, 2nd and 3rd of super final in disciplines (sup, surf, windsurf, kitesurf), teams. Also best woman, future master and and future girl,youngest and oldest competitor, and best sports man ship.
CATEGORIES
There will be only one category open to anyone. There is no separate Category for different ages or women.
RULES
Fair play is imperative (especially in waves) Competitors should compete according to right of way standards. Head Judge may remove or disqualify a competitor if he feels minimum fair play threshold has been crossed. In addition to these guidelines, a list of house rules will be posted at the event. Failure to comply with these rules may also result in immediate Disqualification In the event of sickness or injury a substitute competitor will be used.
Priority will be given to the heats required for completion of the overall categories for each sport. This may mean conditions are not perfect, we need to finish overall category to get a result.
SCORING
The weighting of each discipline is the same and the overall master of the ocean winner will be who takes best ranking in all 4 disciplines In the event of a tie the head judge and organisers will have the final vote.
