For Immediate Release
2013 Atlantic Kite Jam
Cocagne Cape Marina/Caissie Cape New Brunswick
Kiteboarding is one of the world’s most explosive sports. Combining elements from surfing, wakeboarding, windsurfing and snowboarding while adding elements of its own, kiteboarding is a spectacular sport for spectators to watch and enjoy.
Through the weekend of August 3rd to 5th, kiteboarders from all around Atlantic Canada will converge on Cocagne Cape and Caissie Cape New Brunswick for the second annual Atlantic Kite Jam, presented by Darkside Kites and held in conjunction with the Sail for Sight fundraiser operated by the Cocagne Cape Marina. The Atlantic Kite Jam will be based out of the Cocagne Cape Marina with events held at the Caissie Cape Marina as conditions require.
It is expected that 25-40 kiteboarders will compete in three disciplines including Freestyle, Big Air and Kite Cross. Freestyle borrows elements from wakeboarding and snowboarding where riders showcase high power and technical tricks in a jam style format. Big Air, as the name implies, is all about whom goes biggest and highest boosting jumps 20, 30 or 40 feet in the air. Kite Cross is a modified race format which allows for the maximum amount of riders competing at a time; first to complete the course & cross the finish takes the prize.
A small registration fee applies to participants however spectators are welcome to come and take in the show. There will be refreshments on site, information about learning to Kiteboard, vendors and product demos and of course all the activities in support of the Sail for Sight fundraiser put on by the Cocagne Cape Marina.
