Interesting. We could change it into real 5th under tention. With the split tot the le, like the rebel. I might try that with my old/spare dyno.
Where did the 5th broke? Above the Y? Or under.

I remember Dan-of-North saying that it would nog help us. But i asume he never rode it under so much tention/overpower.

Guys, are you seriously saying I need to convert my North Quad bars into 5th element bars?
My Dyno arrives before the weekend, and I need to test it!!

I am in Switzerland Ticino, so any hints where I find 15-20 knots Saturday/Sunday?

I rellay would like to test the Draft 7 against the Dyno and later a Quad against a 5th Element Bar!

Macisback

The 18m Rebel is a loaded 5th. I'm almost positive you can not fly it on four. Its not designed like the Dyno 4 or 5 lines. It would be the same as hooking the normal Rebel up as a 4 line it will not fly right the bridles are not designed for 4 line weight distribution etc.

If 5th line brakes it means you had too much tension on it. Even if you have active/dynamic 5th the kite should not be flying of off it. Everyone using five line kites should learn how to adjust the slack. Many don't come right out of a bag. That's why I don't like the systems where the fifth is intertwined with some kind of Y inside. You should be able to see the whole length of the fifth to see the slack and adjust it as the lines stretch. You might thing this is too much but it beats the shit out of stretched bridle where nobody knows wtf to do after it stretches.

I'm coming late into this convo, so correct me if I'm wrong...your dyno 2011 does NOT need a 5th element bar. I have been happily flying my 16/18 dyno on the quad bar. I have also flown them on 5 lines as well just for the hell of it.

And I've had no problems relaunching it as we fly these kites in winds near their limit, not mowing the lawn in 12/13 knots or less.

Is that what we are talking about?

The dyno is damn rigid I personally don't think it matters. The five line bar does tighten things up a bit for sure, slows the kite down and eventually maybe look at getting a fifth line bar.

But for now your quad is absolutely fine..it's not a loaded fifth, it's not a rebel.,

Hi Toby,

Have you been doing your testing on the new Rebel 18 with your old Dyno bar with micro loop or have North provided you with a micro loop to suit the new 2015 bar?
