How was the 2011 Dyno tracking upwind with small board? I had a powerful 14m with big profile but the problem was staying upwind on a small board but in less wind and along board no problem.

Is tracking upwind in lighter winds on a small airstyle board a priority for you M? What do you mean mean by lighter winds?

I am saying that I had a 14m thick profile kite that pulled me downwind when fully lit or overpowered on a small board. The only time it was OK was in lighter winds on a bigger board.

Basically a thick profile big kite is not a good match for a small board so I wonder what was about this old Dyno to allowed rider to stay upwind with all that torque. Most of it had to be in the middle I guess and the kite had to move upwind with the bar open another guess.

I'm not kite designer (and can I say for the record nor are any of us here probably), but all I know is when you gotta leave a stupid amount of downwind room when you jump on the dyno...we had three dynos out the other day and damn we got close to landing either on each other or straight into someone else's path...and we were leaving ridiculous amounts of room. Took some serious adjusting.
One tack after the jump and you are back at your mark to repeat.
So I suppose your concerns can be set at ease here.
Hey they tried to make a race kite and by all accounts fucked it up and somehow produced a brilliant airstyle kite. End of story really.

The Dyno is a race kite. So be sure it has a good upwind.
Nowadays it has more upwind, but also 2011 is fine, I never had a problem.
I think 18 is better for upwind then the 16

Much better although only 2sqm difference the difference in apparent wind build up and the pull it creates (for upwind pointing, which translates into some serious grunt even in currents etc so not a downwind pull) is significantly better.

One thing I don't understand from north kiteboarding is.
They only make an 18 airstyle rebel for just the high end.
I have a 9 m a 12m rebel and 15 m peter lynn fury lite from 2012.
Only weigh like 65 kilos I want a 15 m air style rebel and an 18.
They should have made 15, 16 , 17 and an 18 airstyle rebel.
With my 12 I can do a lot of airstyle tricks and I have the height and the hang time.
I hope next year north wil come with more sizes.
Oh yeah and not to forget a modified microloop and hook

By the sounds of it man, you will be able to easily step off the 18m and onto the 12m rebel with ease. Why would you want less canopy for airstyle...a 15? From my experience nothing beats at least 18m for airstyle. I agree I can also do a whole lot with a 12m kite to...if on 32m lines to slow the damn thing down, but you reach a point where the next level of tricks is screaming for an 18.
I don't know if I agree with you to be honest, but hey you may have a point. I'm 73 so down the light side like yourself. 70 during the season...
Th erre tically i think the 18m rebel will allow us lighter riders to move into that 16 to 20 knots, where it counts. Heavier riders have been left wanting so it's the 18m dyno for now.

Too many sizes.
14-16-18 would make sense.
Just take your 12 on long lines and it is like a 15.
A good 18 does the trick if you want to get even better.
Good for lighter riders this time, hoping for an 18 for heavy riders next time.
But, for heavy riders the current 18 is like a 15
Still waiting for 25-30 knots to try it...Tarifa end of the week I guess
