Looking for an oldschool kite

Postby Sinthoras1 » Tue Sep 02, 2014 9:34 am

I'm an intermidiate rider at best, but I'm used to go overpowered and jump high (no big air though). On my prefered spot in Sicily we usually get around 15 - 30 knots of constant wind on chopy water. I already have a 10m Slingshot Fuel 2006 and now want to get a bigger kite, that covers the rest of that range. My board is a 130cm Naish (don't know the width).
I love radical kites that shoot me up fast and high. Hangtime would be nice as well but height is definitely more important. I don't do a lot of tricks and like fast kites. However it should stay over my head when doing big jumps, so that I can finally learn the deadman.
I've seen a couple of interesting options so far:
The RRD in 13.5m as I could test the 10.5m for a (very) short session and liked it. Furthermore it showed impressive jumping ability and HT in this years KOTA.
The North Rebel 14m as it seems to be geared to airstyle. Unfortunately I couldn't test it yet. However Tom Hebert went on a North Evo in the KOTA and always made the highest jumps in his heats. Maybe it's the better jumping kite or why did he choose the EVO???
The Switchkite Nitro 3; 14m Mainly for the price, the possibility to test it and to give it back within 30 days.

What does everyone think about those kites? What other options are out there?

Thanks for the help!

I've read that thread but for him the focus was on hang time. I like hang time too, but a brutal lift is more important. Also I always enjoyed fast kites. I just don't know how they react when I take my hand off the bar. Will a faster kite get me into trouble when I want to perform a dead man?
Thanks for the suggestions!
