What is an Indy Board Spin? See this!

Postby Toby » Fri Feb 06, 2015 7:00 pm

Normally board spins are done with a handle. But it is also possible with a grab rail.

See below how the spin works on the rail, called Indy Spin.

It's a nice way to finish of a tail spin actually. Variation is to rotate yourself facing the other way (facing into the wind ) grabbing to indi rail into an inverted superman position and as you come out of it, lift the hand into the indi spin. Another fun one is to Indi spin it then catch on the handle and finish with a wizard or throw the board under the leg...or flip it again using the handle.

Find the indi spin more controlled than the handle spin actually.

Sounds interesting but cannot really follow ;-)

So you have pictures or even better videos of those tricks?

Curious to see!

Tom hebert does it on toms kitchen 2 I think, the first one mentioned(he calls the tail spin a tic tac.. :D ). There's on old video of Dimitri doing the second one. will dig them up today some time today with times to watch. Simple stuff for you man...but for us mere mortals it's doable with practise and some crashes, but pretty much 100 percent execution now.

..Yeh gotta get me some way of taking footage!

you mean the Indy TailSpin Flip?

Something completely different than the Indy Spin. Look exactly at the pictures. A very different axis used.

@ 1.46 dimitri

will look for the tom hebert thing. You can change the axis of spin as you wish, if you hold the board a little longer you can spin it longitudinally as you are showing.

Love this vid, just pure freeriding with flow...

That's an Indy to handle FLIP.

Not an Indy SPIN.

What you catch it on the handle after the flip instead of back on the indi rail, which could easily be spun on the axis you are a showing...

Tom catches it bAck on the indi rail, and it's half way between a spin and a flip....what would you call that then, a halfway indi spin flip...lol!!

Or are you spinning the board keeping it flat through the air...looks like a flip on the photos?

there are 3 axes:

A: the length of the board (flip)
B: the width of the board (indy spin)
C: the thickness of the board (tail spin, handle spin)

Tom is doing an C plus A.
Dimitri an A.

My pictures show the B.
