18m Airstyle Rebel Up for Grabs.

Postby Westozzy » Mon Mar 23, 2015 1:19 am

This kite has sat in my house last 3 months apart from a few sessions (we get way too much wind at the peak of our season), so the use on this kite amounts to probably 10-20 sessions...somewhere in there.

I have tossed and turned about giving this kite up because there is sooooo much I like about it for Airstyle. Perfect kite for this purpose to be honest.

But alas I dislocated my left AC joint 5 years ago, it was never put back in place and hence the shoulder has become progressively weaker. To the point I cannot even surf with my son anymore without being in a lot of pain.

Hence this shoulder just cannot hold the power of this kite in the winds it shines in for airstyle. Well it can, but I then have too long to recover. Hence I'm basically using only very high aspect kites to keep the bar pressure down as much as possible now. I cannot explain how frustrating this is!! This obviously limits my tricks now as well, as we all know kite feedback is paramount when pushing the boundaries in this style. I just need to be realistic now.

You all know what it can do but I have also found it a fantastic kite suitable for relaxed predictable lightwind cruising with an efficient board and/or mixing it with some old school jumps and/or tricks; a great stable platform for learning new moves in safe 'lighter' wind conditions.

Ultimately it's a 2015 Rebel (finest version in my opinion) with all the usual rebel characteristics, short depower throw, incredibly stable, huge wind range (given the right weight, but even then I was holding it at 18 knots @ 74kgs), no pulleys so incredibly direct (far more than the dyno 2011 which is known as a super direct kite); but with a specific talent...

The hang time is remarkable, actually something to experience to be honest. That open centre section acts almost parachute like on the way down. Never been on a kite with this much hang to be honest with you.

Cost me $2300 aus retail, (not long ago  ) Willing to sell at a greatly reduced price of $1550 AUS, (which is only $1113 euro as we speak and $1290 US, so great buying power for you guys) is in near new condition.

I have plenty of pics I can send you, and if you want I can take a picture of my AC joint (in-fact I might just post this pic later) to prove I'm not bullshitting you.

My loss, your gain, but I had to give it a crack. Great kite for its intended purpose and I'd rather it be out on the water than sitting in a cupboard in my house. Waste!

I will even chuck in a 24m north bar with micro loop installed so you can get out on it straight away!!

Price is firm with the bar chucked in as well!!

Also postage can be organised very easily this end, as I have a good friend who exports products worldwide on a daily basis.

Whoever take this kite at this crazy price...enjoy... :D

ah ha! a quick snap of my dickey shoulder!!!

I am so sad to know that this kite caused a big trouble in your life. Though the kite is very nice looking and I am excited to even try it. Unfortunately, I do have have enough money to buy it. :(

Always interesting how different people are...for me the bar pressure is perfect.
Cannot fly those kites with little bar pressure.

I'm spoilt by my Speeds :D too much to hang onto during tacks without using stopper, but our spot is too gusty and choppy to lock it in. The elbows need Voltaren after a good day of hanging on to and working the bar too.
