Quiver advise

Postby Arnoldusz » Tue Jul 12, 2016 1:11 pm

Hello airstylers,

This year I got totally hooked on airstyle and got inspired by you guys. Therefor I want to upgrade my gear which already has been done by buying a North Dyno 15m 2015. I am about 90 kgs/196 lbs and 38 years old I can probably hold the Dyno till 22 knots with my 135*42 North teamseries 2010. Furthermore I have:
- An old almost retired Best Waroo 13 from 2008
- 7 and 9 North Evo from 2015

After reading various airstyle topics I am not very sure what to do and hope you can help me out and advise me. I already ordered 6m extensions for my Dyno because I have 24m lines at the moment. But I am not sure what the next step should be for winds above 22 knots:
- Get a new bar for my Best Waroo with 27-30 m lines: my current bar is not okay anymore and need to upgrade
- Get a secondhand Dyno 2013 which I saw: the choice is 11 or 13. Should I get the 11 or 13 then?
- Buy an smaller board too (second hand of course) less then 130?

My level is average and have been kiting over 10 years already; backroll handplant, frontroll, one footer level…

I hope you can help me out to decide what to do.

Arnold

Hi Arnold,

I don't know about the Waroo.

In general, remember, you want power and control over the kite.
So a 13 would be better than an 11.

Also, bars a cheaper than a kite. If you have been happy with the Waroo and its condition is ok, get a used bar for it. Preferable an old north bar from 2009-2912, than you can add a Microloop, which will get you on a new level.

You can get those bars for 70-100 Euro

Thanks Toby. The Waroo is a moderate Aspect Ratio kite and the feeling is kind of the same as the dyno. Just for my information is it correct that you only use the microloop during jumps to retain the power in the kite? Or has it also other purposes? I am kind of reserved towards the microloop because back in the days I friend of my had a scary experience regarding the microloop (got stuck)...

I use it for all air tricks without rotation o stay longer in the air.

You need to be aware of the danger of getting hooked, and know how to unhook it asap. Or to release the QR immediately if it gets stuck.

But it does give you another level.
