Hi all,
I've recently moved to kiteboarding from wakeboarding.
As my first board for kite i purchased a 2nd hand Fone "NEXT" from my local Fone dealer (an official Fone dealer in my country).
When I bought my board it was in "new" condition and came with a roller leash that connects to the heel-side left fin.
After 6 or 7 sessions of NON-INTENSIVE riding, on a beach with no rocks, or any other hazards in the water, I had a regular fall, not from a huge trick or extremely high riding speed.
The leash literally tore off a piece of the board - look at the picture:

my question is: Do I have a claim for manufacturing defect? after 17 years of wakeboarding i know that boards arent supposed to be that fragile and when there are manufacturing glitches you normally get another board.
Please let me know what I can do, it really sucks to have your board broken 2 weeks after purchase.
Thanks

A. Why is this in wakestyle strap fairy?
B. You obviously have no idea what you're doing if you're using a board leash - tells me you didn't have lessons
C. No warranty as no board (you should know this from wakeboarding) is meant to have enormous load put on two little holes in the tip of it directed away from the board
Get your head out of your ass and get some lessons.

Hehe you really got the wrong impression.
I took lessons at a local kite school, bought the board at their shop and they are the ones who suggested the leash and mounted it the way they did too.
Just to make things even more rediculous, this happened at the red sea when i went out supervised by another school and my equipment was checked by them before going out to the water as part of their insurance needs. they said nothing about the leash either
So I'd love to get my head out of my ass but please excuse me if two different schools taught me wrong.
and by the way, i shouldnt know this from wakeboarding as there is no need for leashes when wakeboarding since you have no risk of losing your board. This is not the case when you're a beginner kiteboarder especially when my kite beach is very wavy.
Thanks for your time and lovely attitude mate

First of all, welcome to kiteboarding.
Second; you should never use a leash! I'm very surprised that the shop you bought the board from didn't advise you to not use one...? You need to take some lessons and learn how to body drag to your board. No lesson center would ever teach with a leash so I'm thinking you haven't received any lessons...?
Third; there is probably nothing they can do because it is a used board to begin with and also that you used a leash but in my experience, you should always contact the shop that you bought the gear from first and see if they can help you before posting on an international forum. Then if the shop can not help go directly to the manufacturer and see what they can do. Again, it's a used board so probably not much F One will be able to do. Then, if the shop or manufacturer cant help go to the forums.
@AdrenalineDriven: pretty harsh man! Give the noob a break. I agree with you but geez....

Ok, so I now see that you have received lessons. However, it amazes me that that two schools taught you with a leash! Shame on them man!

Yeah I guess i'll go to the shop hopefully they can do something.
I'm just glad this board destruction made me read some stuff about leashes and im gonna stop using it. I can body drag upwind im just worried my board would be hard to find between the waves.
Thanks for the replies peeps

Hi there,
As a wakeboarder you may ride better with boots so get rid of the leash and straps and forget about bodydragging.

F one boards feell really good in the water, even though it seems they have a problem with durability. would be good if they build more resistant material and keep the smooth feeling they have in the water.
